I don't believe GTA is a RPG and I think this should be in off topic

It is called Zelda Ocarina Of Time and I don't really think Saints row or GTA or The Godfather are really role playing games.

i'm not sure i  could write a top 10 rpg games list  without including any  final  fantasy games

or even not putting shenmue series in there either

    thats just  my opinion though

Maybe replace oblivion with Morrowind though. Thes choice of Assassins creed is odd also but the list is fairly epic.

I didn't know that many people knew icewind dale, epic game Stick out tongue [:P]

It was a fairly rushed list to put out though im sure i would have moved the ranks a bit differently, but yeah Icewind Dale and Baldurs Gate were the very two first RPGs i got a taste of and i love playing them, as i still do from time to time today, not to mention Diablo of course. Assassins Creed was mostly just mentioned as it is kindof in my eyes an RPG based game in some respects, thats why i tossed it in there.

Re: top 10 RPG's ever played to this date

Ah yes RPG, one of the best gaming genres.

    1. Baldurs Gate (1+2)
    2. Ulimta 8 - Pagan
    3. Neverwinter Nights (1+2)
    4. Knights of the Old Republic (1+2)
    5. Ultima 9 - Ascension
    6. Gothic (1+2)
    7. Icewind Dale (1+2)
    8. Jade Empire
    9. Planescape Torment

Games like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Morrowind or Fable:TLC were also pretty G o o d [Good], but the gap between those games listed and them is just too big. I also don't like the approach of many modern RPGs, about having realtime fights and no groups (e.g. Fallout 3). Or take Mass Effect for example which simply plays like a shooter with story and leveling. Too simple and too fast for my taste. For me every fight has to be made with pause after every turn and planning a strategy for the next turn! Turnbased games are simply the best! Or at least the fights must be very slow and a pause every moment has to be in too for giving commands to every team member.

Speaking of turn based strategic battles, I'm still unsure about getting The Dark Eye: Drakensang. The demo was really entertaining, but the camera was ... well "special" one could say, just like in Neverwinter Nights. Although Neverwinter Nights had the D&D rules and universe which made them so G o o d [Good] for me.

I'm looking forward for Dragon Age which is if I trust in Biowares words the inheritor of Baldurs Gate. I have high expectations on this which will probably be a dissapointment, looking at the games Bioware released lately. Sad [:(]

Thought about that one, too, but the requirements are prohibiting!

Also, I second was has been said about the initial list, GTA is no RPG!

Requirements? I didn't notice anything, the demo run at maximum detail on 1680x1050. Must have been the computer I build this year. It seems that most games can not use the full capacity of this rig until now. Hmm [^o)] Wink [;)]

Oh yes GTA isn't an RPG and I higly doubt Assasins Creed is either. Dunno though, never played it. Surprise [:O] Maybe you could say you're roleplaying a gangster in GTA, but so you could say in every shooter too. Crysis is an RPG were you roleplay an uber-soldier for example. Wink [;)]
