Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
So I love Doctor Who, I never got BBC so when it started showing on Sci Fi back in 05 that was really the only time I got to see it. Needless to say I got hooked immediately, and I've bought all the seasons and specials since 05.
I've also tried to find the older shows, and have miraculously found some. I can't afford to spend 60 dollars for the dvds that only have 2 or 3 episodes on them from the old series, so I make due with what i can find online.
Basically I'm just wondering if any of you like the show, and who your favorite Doctor is. I know David Tennant is leaving after this year and they are bringing in Mark Smith. I've never seen him in anything, have any of you? They seem pretty confident in his abilities but he seems very young for the role. If he can pull off being the Doctor at 26 I'll be very impressed, but I gotta admit I'll miss David. So what do you think of the show?
Also, what do you think of the spin offs like Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood. I've bought all the Torchwood Dvds, and was hoping they would focus more on Capt Jack, but I still like it very much.
The U.S.A. Great Seal; The GORLON! He's like a big ol' building wiff fur and anger, and he fliiiies tall....And he's got a big mouft, and he's got a face full of buildings which he will beat you up wiff cause he's got a building in his bucket.

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
Doctor Who is awesome! Although, I have to admit I haven't seen any of the older ones, before Christopher Eccleston came on the scene, but I thought David Tennant was a pretty amazing Doctor Who, I'm just hoping Mark Smith can pull off the role well enough! Never watched the Sarah Jane Adventures, but I've watched a few Torchwoods, and they're pretty awesome too

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
Not ever watched Dr.Who... I should at one point but I have no real interest in watching it.
"IrishMorn" If Adon and Sagat step in....ah, what the hell, I'll get drunk and join in on that one.

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
I can't comment on previous doctors, but out of the 2 I've seen David was the best, but they each bring an entirely new character to the role so it will be interesting to see what the newbie does.

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
Hasn't it been like two years since we've seen a new Doctor Who here in the states? I still have it setup in my Tivo I think.
What's the hold up?

:'( I feel for you. If I could teleport/make more Doctor Who showings in the States, then I would

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
I watch it on and off. Wouldn't mind the whole thing on DVD at some point, but I imagine that would be incredibly expensive.
My favourite doctor is the Third Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee (he had his doctor head on!). Mostly because he's the one I grew up watching. (On repeat, I'm not old). Also liked the Fourth Doctor.
David Tennant's version was bloody ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) though. He kind of mixes personality quirks from many of the previous ones.
Haven't really been watching Torchwood or any of the spin offs.
About the next Doctor being young, the general trend is for the doctor to become a younger version of himself each time he regenerates, in fact I think it was going to be a plot point at one stage, but it was scrapped when different writers made him slightly older during a few incarnations.
Two more regenerations and the Doctor is (theoretically) gone forever, since he only has thirteen lives. If they want it to continue they'll no doubt find a way to bring him back though.
The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

Whoa! He sure does have short lives then. His lives have been one or a fews years long lately.

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
Well, Time Lords never age, so technically he could live forever if he didn't keep getting himself killed. And like I said, they could easily find a way of bringing him back. It's a series featuring time travel, someone could easily steal the TARDIS, go back in time, find David Tennant and clone him or something. ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif) The writers haven't been terribly consistent anyway.
The Master was granted A second cycle by the Time Lords, but since they're all dead apparently, that option doesn't look likely.
The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
I don't know if any of you will of noticed this but in the last or penultimate episode of season 2, the one where Rose got left in the parallel universe, the person who played Martha Jones (the doctors next companion) plays some woman at torchwood who dies. Thought I'd check if I wasn't the only nerd to notice this

Yeah I noticed that. They must have really liked her and gave her a shot with a new character.
Of course, I noticed. She's hot!

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
What happened to the actress that played Rose? She looked like she got hooked on meth when they brought her back in the last season. She looked really skinny and it looked like her mouth grew more teeth or something.

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
Rose is weird, she looks Okish on screen, bit too much teeth for my liking. Take her out of makeup she looks like a totally different person, (and not very attractive)

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
Gingerman:Personally I dont like the idea of a new actor playing the Doctor but if anyone should be playing the doctor it should be this dazzling chap Now I shall be marching to BBC this Friday with rifle in hand demanding this mysterious yet enchanting man be given the job whos with me! I get bored easily these days...
Am I the only one who can't see the picture?? Or was that a joke? Otherwise I think the red x in a white box would make a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) doctor.

I guess they felt the gap between showing the two episodes would be great enough for people not to notice too much.

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
I feel sad for David leaving, He was my favorite doctor out of the two. I hate ALL the companions! Burn the heretics!
I think Matt Smith won't pull it off though to be honest, Looking forward to stevens episodes though!
Your people just destroyed a hard built character with a simple stupid decision. Yes i understand the game said it was irreversible
I think you'll find it was you.

Re: Doctor Who and The Eleventh Doctor
I said the same thing when Christopher Eccleston was leaving and David Tennant was coming on board. I wasn't aware of David's previous work and I didn't want Eccleston to leave. I thought he was awesome.
However, then I watched Tennant as the Doctor and he was wonderful!
I liked both Doctors.
By the way, I never watch the original Doctor Who series from way back when, so I am not familiar with the original presentations of the Doctor.
