There is nothing wrong with torrent software. It's just a useful tool. Sure, it's used for piracy a lot, but so are DVD burners, and no one frowns at you when you have one of those.
Torrents see a lot of legal use in patches (like maggot mentioned, and I know Relic distributes its patches for Company of Heroes via torrents as well) and distributing linux distros. Any situation where a large number of users who have upload bandwidth to spare are downloading the same content benefits from using torrents. If a company had 5 servers serving 1000 users, then changing from FTP to bittorrent decreases the load on the servers and increases the download speed and reliability for the users.
Torrents are awesome, piracy or no piracy.
To be on topic, my desktop is a simple blue plane, specifically #004E98, which happens to be the default Windows XP Home background color:

Not because I can't find or think of any cool background images to have, but because keeping my desktop simple helps me use it effectively. I experimented with some different background colors, but this shade of blue is pretty damn

. It's not a bright color, so it's easy on the eyes. The contrast with the white text isn't too high (as with black), so it's easy to read on it. And blue is pretty.
The last time I did have a desktop image, it was this one:
