Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
quaseman: Pavman:I loved Fable 2, but it was a bit short and my Xbox360 RROD'ed me the day that the DLC came out. So Xbox sent for repairs.
I'm waiting for Sacred: The Fallen Angel. It's the prequel to the original Sacred game. Looks absolutely brilliant.
Sacred 2 is already released! I even played the demo months ago. It played like the first Sacred which is . Although I'm not sure about long term motivation which was the biggest problem for Sacred. Simply a huge world, much too big and full of respawning enemies that made it a pain to travel between places. Still simply the best Hack&Slay after Diablo 2. Sacred 2 was a bit buggy (I think I read about patches and it now works pretty well) and had DRM copy protection on the release, so I will not buy it. Maybe it gets down to 20 € soon, so it might be a choice after all.
Thanks Quaseman, but I'm a bit confused as Sacred 2 is not out yet for the 360. It has a release date of 24 April 2009 as it says in the link below: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sacred-Fallen-Angel-Xbox-360/dp/B000ZNM4I8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1232155389&sr=8-5

But yes exclusive games usually are the best... Only multi plat game i really really liked this gen is a fifa. ![Cheeky [:cheeky:]](/emoticons/cheeky.gif)
FIFA, really? I read and felt they fucked up the PC version once again. DRM copy protection on top of it, worse graphics, worse physics, worse AI, less content than the console versions. At least the graphics where already improved by a high-res mod, but graphic is not everything. My principle stands: No DRM games for me, only for cheap money (more than 20 € for a "rented" game is not justified) or if I really really want the game (e.g. Mass Effect, GTA4) Pavman:Thanks Quaseman, but I'm a bit confused as Sacred 2 is not out yet for the 360. It has a release date of 24 April 2009 as it says in the link below: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sacred-Fallen-Angel-Xbox-360/dp/B000ZNM4I8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1232155389&sr=8-5
I thought so, but I really think the console version is the worse game here and not worth the waiting (at least not if you have a decent PC). I think it does not work to control a Hack&Slay game like Sacred 2 with a gamepad. PC mouse ftw! At least Ascaron promised to do their best, but their console development experience is not that big. On top of this, I would not buy a console game for 60 € if their is the PC verison left to it for only 20-30 € (estimated prices for April release). Also: Hail to Warhammer 40k - Dawn of War 2! For the Emperor! ![Cheeky [:cheeky:]](/emoticons/cheeky.gif)
Everyone should boycott Ubisoft and their new Online DRM for PC games. This has gone too far in the reduction of the rights of users and I am sick of it! It is not made to fight piracy, but to control the customer.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
Sacred 2
Looks like a nice dungeon crawler. The set character thing is a bit off putting but the cusomization makes up for it.
Borderlands
I'd recomend everyone check this game out, it gets realeased sometime in Q1 so not so far away. Its set in the future on a bandit planet, it looks badass and they boast 500,000 weapons.
Dark Void
For anyone who has played Farcry, Iron Man and Mass Effect/Gears of War then merge different elements of each game and you get Dark Void, could be .
Godfather 2
Sometime in Q1 and it looks like Godfather 1 crossed between Scarface the game. Not very appealing in that aspect but it still looks nice.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
Hmm... Now that Killzone 2 has got 13 reviews in, it's still averaging 95/100. Which places it slightly above Call of Duty:Modern Warfare in the ratings stakes

The first Killzone was crap, and I can only see Killzone 2 being the same.

Boilerplate Kneejerk:The first Killzone was crap, and I can only see Killzone 2 being the same.
Based on what evidence, precisely? This would be despite the dozen or so reviews ranking it as the best shooter since Bioshock (or Half-Life 2, depending on who you listen to), I take it?
Not that I'm against skepticism - there's nothing wrong in waiting for proof. But the evidence is pretty overwhelming so far - in terms of reviews at any rate. Reviews are everything mind you, but they're often a fair indication. I'm afraid you might end up having to accept that it's actually a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) game...

I know what you're saying, the reviews so far are ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) , and the trailers, and previews look excellent..
But it has that Haze or Assassin's Creed feel to it. Overhyped and Over-Marketed.
I will still buy it though, no doubt, I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Meh while i have no doubt it is overhyped like sadly pretty much all other games this gen with a few exceptions (silent hill homecoming, Valkyria Chronicles and Uncharted) i played the beta and it was pure fun which is more than i can say about Haze (demo sucked) or Ass Creed which i sadly bought. The first one wasnt that bad but it had alot of technical problems because the ps2 couldnt handle what they wanted to do really not to mention it was many of the devs first project. That it's the first console fps that i have been able to enjoy online says alot i think as i always hated them.

I have also always taken a loathing to online FPS games. I think Call of Duty is awfully overrated, COD 4 was 8/10 for me and COD 5 is just so average, especially online.
I recently bought Resistance 2, which was, till a few months ago, competing with Killzone 2 for the PS3 FPS crown, but then Killzone 2 was inevitably delayed. As far as First-Person-Shooters go, Resistance 2 is great online, and the plot takes you to diverse and interesting lands. I seldom find myself wanting more online (Who aspires for more than 60 player deathmatches)
Whether Killzone 2 can offer something unique and at the same time Brilliant is a question which I cannot wait to find the answer to.
But my 'flop' senses started tingling when they released a CGI trailer a while back. As if shirking from showing any actual gameplay.
The ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) thing about expecting games to crap is that you're constantly being proved right or pleasantly surprised.

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
Ah, the now legendary 'Target Footage' video
Worth remembering that was 4 years ago now, and the general feeling appears to be it's not only met, but in some ways exceeded the rendered E3 video from 2005. Though what makes me think it's probably going to be pretty ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) is that in general once reviews have got the whole "This is the best looking console game ever...etc" thing out of the way, they talk less about how ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) it looks, and more about the depth of gameplay involved in single player, and how ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) the online game it (I'm delighted to see the return of AI bots in multiplayer btw, so you can pad out those numbers of players , or get some offline practice in ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) ). Rather than being a straight up run-and-gun brainless frag-fest - playing like that gets you nowhere apparently - it looks like a shooter with a ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) deal of variety, which requires a little thought to play. Smart AI and all that. And the mechanics are supposedly very polished indeed.
Ordinarily I wouldn't be looking forward to any shooter (well, except maybe Uncharted 2), but Killzone 2 looks like it may be one of those rare games that lives up to the hype. Hey, it happens from time to time...

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
It's kind of crept up on me, but I mind myself now really looking forward to StreetFighter IV tomorrow. I used to play a lot of StreetFighter II in University, as they had one in one of the Student's Union bars there. The original mind, none of that Turbo or Alpha rubbish. And I used to play it a lot - a lot a lot - and as it was often played competitively for money it basically paid for every friday night out for about 18 months. Mind you, you could get very strong beer for about 85p in the SU back then, so that's not really that much in winnings
Anyway. Nostalgia is flooding into me, so I think I'm going to buy the game and get a decent arcade stick from somewhere...

To late I got a message saying
"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc."
Well im looking forward to Bioshock 2 (first was great), Overlord 2 (first was great and felt like fable), infamous(sandbox games are fun), prototype(same as infamous) and judging by how you reacted uncharted 2 sounds like it will be fun.
garjian:the clincher... fable has always had erectile disfunction... its never been long or hard enough to have any fun with ![Stick out tongue [:P]](/emoticons/emotion-4.gif)

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
That's becase the original Bioshock was nowhere near as original, versatile or indeed remotely as intelligent as the reviews made out. A long, long way from being a bad game, but also a long, long way from being the groundbreaking First Person Shooter it was made out to be.I was bored within 3 hours and don't think I made it past the halfway stage. But that's just me, I guess...
Uncharted does look ![G o o d [Good]](/emoticons/g_o_o_d.gif) , though - liking the animation and fluidity a lot
Quite looking forward to GoWIII (that's God of War, for people without a grasp of chronology) since Sony released the latest trailer, which was apparently done using the game engine. Could be quite stunning if that's anything to go by. Bloody as hell of course, but looks like they're doing some interesting things with the environments very much in line with the more'cinematic' versions of mythology. Might be on to a winner there

Re: What games are you looking forward to and why?
Uncharted 2, and Infamous are at the top of the list as of now. Before I was siding with Prototype, but after I saw more of Infamous, I am pumped beyond belief.
As for Uncharted, I am overly excitied (thanks for the link Maggot), as I was crazy about the first one =D
