    Environment Creation

Hi all, here is the low down, I'm going through my last year of college and I'm off to uni next year, so this year I want to build up a portfolio for 3d games design, so I need to know what programs I should be using. So far I am using 3ds max, zbrush and Vue7, however they are all trials.

I'm pretty happy with 3ds Max and Zbrush, however Vue7 seems more focused on environments to used in cutscenes.

So all I'm asking is there a better program for creating environments?

    Cheers

    Re: Environment Creation

I attended SIGGRAPH this year and I noticed allot of developers are starting to use Maya in some cases.
I have worked with both 3ds Max and Maya, I prefer Maya cause I have more control.

Last year there was a huge demonstration for Mudbox.
I think it is all just a preference of you or the company you want to work for.

I know when I was in college two years back they encouraged us to use both, and experiment with other programs of a similar type available for the industry. So that way you'd be more likely to find a job. The more flexible your skills and knowledge are of similar programs the more likely you will have more job options, and an impressive portfolio.

Like I said its mostly preference.
