    Jade Empire Any Good?

Seen a couple of videos on Youtube.
    Looks nice to play.
Thinking of picking it up for Xbox.
    Is it any G o o d [Good]?

The girlfriend enjoyed it. Looked decent from what I saw (she played it on the PC). And the reviews seem positive. I don't think it's particularly difficult though, if you're looking for a challenge. The only reason I say this is because she didn't need to use an invincibility cheat, like she did with Oblivion.

I enjoyed it, it's like mass effect and kotor mixed with Martial Arts it's no wear near as G o o d [Good] as the two mentioned but it's a fun little game, short though. I may play it later, Watching Enter The Dragon on ITV4 and it's got me into a Martial Arts mood lol love that movie... if my bed was big enough or there wasn't any one down stairs you'd catch me in my black training pants trying to impersonate Bruce Lee.

    Re: Jade Empire Any Good?

In my opinion it was much better than Mass Effect and still better than Knights 2. At least the story was better than the story of Mass Effect. Not as G o o d [Good] as Neverwinter Nights or Knights of the Old Republic though. Wink [;)]

Overall I think you can compare the game to Fable. I think it is the better Fable in the end. Nice action adventure with RPG elements, G o o d [Good] story, nice side-quests and a very unique setting with lots of postcard views in cutscenes or on the way.

Then you have the combat system which is in my opinion pretty nice. I like the system of block, counter and magic with combinations, power ups and finish moves. Oh and the top down shooter sequences in between your travels on the world map. They could have made a game on itself out of this shooter. Wink [;)]

The downside of the game is in my opinion the limitation to a specified character. The roles are predefined and you have to follow them more or less.

Dunno about the difficulty, but on the highest difficulty (that unlocks after you finished the game on the previously highest), I had quite a few problems in the monastery when I had no magical energy left and had to fight a horse demon that was immune to anything else. I was playing as the monk though that highly relied on magic usage. Maybe the martial artist would have done easier then.

Although, as always, I would suggest playing this game on the PC because of better graphics and customisable controls. XBox360 pad works G o o d [Good] on the PC as well.

Everyone should boycott Ubisoft and their new Online DRM for PC games. This has gone too far in the reduction of the rights of users and I am sick of it! It is not made to fight piracy, but to control the customer.

    Re: Jade Empire Any Good?

I LOVED Jade empire. It is amasing, I do hope they do make a part 2 because they said that they are but there really hasn't been any news about it for a long time. But I think Mass effect might be better only because I love space and how we can switch clothes. And as for kotor 2 I can't f****ng wait for Star wars: the old republic to come out.

The only thing you might not like about jade empire is the loading screens and the lack of explorable locations. But overal It is an amasing story, beautiful designs, and great martial art styles (even though not all are real lol).

    Re: Jade Empire Any Good?

I've just started playing this again today, I'm enjoying it I needed to lighten my self up yesterday as my brother broke one of my games, so I picked Tiger Shen (The big one with the pony tail) and Re-named him Tong Po, gave him White Demon style and I keep repeating the words "You bleed like Mie Lee, Mie Lee G o o d [Good] ***" every time I win a fight... lol,.. well it amused me anyway.

The problem I had was that there wasn't that big a variety of fighting styles, I mean there could have been a few more. They all look a little rigid too, possibly owed to the technology at the time. There's no real G o o d [Good] combo's just A,A,A or X I mean you can do some fun stuff like blowing them up if you time a support style right but well that's about it. I hope that some were down the line Bioware makes a sequel... maybe for the next set of consoles. Mainly because I think it would be interesting to see what they could do with this type of game with today's technology.

Another problem was the fact that you got no real benefit for staying neutral, I wanted my character to be one of those tough guys that believe that people should help them selves and helping them would only make them weak, but I didn't want to be too arrogant about it. The game however doesn't cater to that, from doing such actions you stay at neutral, you don't really get any advantages from being neutral. I would have gone with the way of the closed fist which is supposed to be the way of the "tough guy that believe's that people should help them selves and helping them would only make them weak" but all that amounts to is being an arrogant ***/ mercenary rather then flawed warrior.

I hope this isn't the case with Biowares next game Dragon Age Origins, I don't think these things should be measured in bars nor should they measure one aspect, one of the better ideas of Fable 2 (even though it didn't work all that well) was that you were judged on two separate bars of morality, G o o d [Good] and E v i l [Evil] or Pure and Corrupt. There should have been more then 2 bars morality in that too but t least it gave it a try.

One of my favorites. Love it.

I think if you like Fable you would love almost any Bioware game.

    Re: Jade Empire Any Good?

Been playing this over the last few PC sessions (they're few and far between) - it's a bog standard Bioware RPG (orphan with awesome destiny blah blah blah) that gives you more responsibility than normal for the outcome of the fights and has pretty much no inventory management. Even for the time the level of customisation was pretty poor - whether it's the player character, the outfits, the fighting styles. Combat gets boring quickly. The story is so linear it makes Brewster from Chuggington (obsession? What obsession?) look like a leaf on the breeze. If you want a G o o d [Good] PC martial arts game get Oni. If you want a G o o d [Good] RPG get Neverwinter Nights and download some G o o d [Good] modules ( the main quest is fairly linear and boring). If you want to just look at hot asian babes kicking the crap out of eachother, go to Furious Mings on the corner of 10th and broadway. But if it's cheap, Jade Empire gives you a little taste of all of these things without satisfying your appetite for any of them.
