     Quoting: 02PARSIM
I'm not sure whether I wana see Lady In The Water or not, it looks good, but M Night Shyamalan's movies always look good and then I see them and come out disappointed. Sixth Sense was great, so was Unbreakable. But Signs was only average, and below average with the most ridiculous ending ever. And don't get me started on The Village, he made a damn good movie and then wrecked it with a stupidly predictable twist.
I agree! I'm kinda on the fence about LitW for the same reason. I'm just thinking the big TWIST is gonna be something moronic, like, the lady is actually a Snickers bar. Anyone going to see World Trade Center? I think I'm going to see it. People are complaining that it's "too Hollywood," but what's the alternative, United 93? Which, a lot of people weren't seeing because it was said to be "too depressing." Nicholas Cage was saying it isn't a movie that will leave people sad, it ends on a good note. Of course, how good can it really be? But, I'll end up seeing if this is true or not.

Didn't you hear man: There is no twist I wanna see United 93, but WTS seems a little too happy, a PG-13 means the emotional intensity can't be too strong.

    Re: Recent Films Thread

To be honest I want to see World Trade Center and United 93, why? Because they both recount history but through different means. Perhaps they are insensitive to be made as some people state, but the inevitable fact is that it happened, it was a horrible event and shocked the world, but it happened. So it was inevitable moviemakers were going to try and recount the horror and bravery that occured on that day. United 93 tells of heroes in a different ways, those that were on United 93. WTC meanwhile tells of the firefighters story, something competely different. Both should be good films if told with the care the story needs.

    Re: Recent Films Thread

Okay, I've decided that every time I see a movie I am now writing a review for it on here, I do this for Yahoo movies anyway so I'm just gonna do it here as well, mainly cos I'm bored. Wink [;)] Nacho Libre B+ (Quivalent of 4 Stars) Nacho Libre has been a movie I have been looking forward to seeing for ages. I loved Napoeleon Dynamite, it was original and it was packed full of laughs. That movie scored a full on A off me and it deserved all of the praise it got. But then there is Nacho Libre, the directors movie after Napoleon Dynamite. This movie looked hilarious in the trailers, it featured Jack Black who is fast becoming the best comedic actor out there and also featured Jack Black in stretchy pants, its an idea so simple it is genious! So why is it I have come out of Nacho Libre feeling satisfied, but never amazed as I really wanted to be. Perhaps my expectations of Nacho Libre were too high, perhaps I didn't get some of the humour, but the fact is that for every brilliant joke there is there is a lame fart joke thrown in as well. Nacho Libre does of course have its positive side, in fact for the most part Nacho Libre is still a very funny movie. Jack Black is perfectlly cast as Nacho, his comedic talents really do shine through, whether it be his ludicrous Mexican accent or his prancing round the ring, the man is simply funny and wheres his stretchy pants extremely proud. In fact for the most part all of the characters are played extremely well, the orphans remain sweet without being sickly, Sister Ignancion is a good if slightly wasted character, and Nacho's companion for the ring is absolutely hilarious. Nacho Libre still has all of the comedic talents that were displayed in Napoleon Dynamite. Scenes where Nacho is beaten up by midgets that hiss like cats has got to be the funniest scene of the year. The dialogue is also spot on for the most part, brilliant little lines like Nacho trying to ask the nun out on a data and his best offer, "I was wondering if you want to go back to my quarters, for some toast". Lines like that are hilarious and they do shine through a lot of the time. So then why do I still claim Nacho Libre is never as fun as it should be, well despite the good laughs in there, the rest of it is basically slapstick and fart jokes. The slapstick I can handle because this is wrestling movie I have to admit that the slapstick is for the most part absolutely hilarious. A shame then that the repeated farting joke at stupid times goes on and on. They did it about five times and after the first time you just sigh at the lameness of it. This is a shame because comedic moments like the wrestling match and the hilarious egg eating bit are undermimed by a simple fart scene. Nacho Libre is a funny movie and I still would highly recommend it to people. But it could and should have been a bit better than it is. This earns a B+ mainly because the acting here had me in stitches. Jack Black is a hilarious man and this performance still stands up tall next to his one in School of Rock (in my eyes the better movie). Nacho Libre will delight kids who enjoy slapstick and fart jokes and the adults will enjoy the witty dialogue that comes out. Just don't go expecting it to be as good as Napoleon Dynamite though. Expect me here next week for my review of Snakes on a Plane!

    Re: Recent Films Thread

Aw, i wish i saw Nacho. When i went in the screen i saw Nachop, but at the same time i saw a chav war, it's Romford after all. Lady in the Water is amazing in the end by the way, Giamatti pulls it through, thank God. And i got to see the Hot Fuzz teaser! yay. Only 6 more months until it's out! Guns, swearing and Pegg and Frost, doesn't get much more New English as that! I guess Ethan will give you the second review. Next week u can do Snakes, i will try for A Scanner Darkly, if i find a cinema it plas in, ARR! Lady in the Water (2006), A film by M. Night Shyamalan. Starring Paul Giamatti and Bryce Dallas Howard. Runtime: 110 minutes. Certificate PG(UK) PG-13(US) Well, after the misforune of the Village, i thought this foray into bedtime would be appalling, and the critics thought so. Using his amazing imagination, M.Night places ordinary people in weird situations, and yet they act so normally, which is weirder still. The Film gets off so well, after the dumb little animation backstory of course, Giamatti, a godsend for cinema, is killing a bug, for about 2 minutes. Hillariously done, and so deadpan at it. We then meet a new tenant, an excuse to look through the area the film is set, an apartment block in Philledelphia called the Cove. The new tenant is none other than a film critic, which adds to the comedy, especially when later we realise that the film isn't telling us about human's lives, but that critics are know it all layabouts who think they can tell someone's story without meeting them, hmm, wonder why that was added? Once the mystery in the swimming pool, bubbles and hair are found in the filter, is solved, the film kicks off, when sea nymph Story, played chillingly to perfection by young go getter Bryce Dallace Howard, in no relation to our RonH or BryceDallasH, begins to unravel little hints of her, as Cleaveland Heep, Giamatti, uses this and an old Asian woman to decipher the supposed bedtime story. This plays well, and with constant late night attacks by the nymph's enemies, the scrunts, who are covered by grass and can become flat. The story is a little far fetched, he said smirking, and when Story finally does her duty, not doodie, though it's heard like that an awful lot, you think she can go, then they evil guys attack again, and her last chance must contain 4 sets of people, guardians, to protect from scrunts, healer, to bring her to life, a symbolist, to explain what to do, and a guild, to pretty much do everything else. Now, the acting here ranges from the excellent, what can i say, i'm a sucker for that Giamatti charm, to the cheesy, the smokers are a little stereotypical, but the plot, although supposedly heavy, is an easilly decipheral thing, and even though it tries to suggest it's clever, it's simple, man=bad, change=good, you have to find yourself. The graphics, what is used of them, are creepliy affective, the cinematography is great, the dialogue, mixed, the scariness, well, i'm a *****, half the time i had my eyes closed and my ears closed. All in all, a fun romp, touching as well, when the main character wants and wants to help, but never can. 4/5 For more reviews, listen to Ethan goes to Hollywood, only in TMOA's Director's Cut!

My friends didn't want to see Lady In the Water, they thought it looked stupid. So i went to see Nacho instead. Well it was Nacho or the Ant Bully which I really don't want to see. We're off to see Snakes On A plane next friday so that should be fun, or terrifying, but hopefully it will be good. Happy [:)]

    Re: Recent Films Thread

Good [Good] review, I'm still intrigued by it. I've just had too many bad experiances with that director to know whether I want to pay to see his films. The Village just infuriated me, it wasn't scary, it wasn't drmatic, hell what genre was that film? And the twist just made me sit there in cinema and almost scream. Signs creeped me out big time, god knows why but at the time I was terrified. But when I rewatched it and saw the ending I realised how lame it was. Sixth Sense was amazing though. Happy [:)]

OK, don't worry, the git added himself as a big character, but Paul Giamatti, as soon as i saw him in the teaser i knew i had to see it, even if i didn't want to, it's well worth it, it's almost an experience.

Lol, oh well I'll persuade someone to go with me. I want to see the new Will Ferrel movie as well, Talledaga Nights, or something like that. The trailer was hilarious! "Help me Jesus! Help Me Tom Cruise" (while thinking he is on fire though he really isn't) Lol

Well i'm watching The Descent tonight on TV so that'll be interesting. And I admit, Passion of the Christ was really bad. Its a movie that just tries to show off someone being beaten up, well there were other bits but I might have sleapt through them. Wink [;)]

I just watched Lord of war on dvd today and i must say it is quite a stylish movie. The whole concept of it all is just brilliant. A well made and thought out movie to rate it out of 10 i would give it 7.5/10. Good [Good] stuff if you are into movies like that.
If you can't do the time then don't do the crime. Then again you can just post in here i suppose ->

Implausible, it has only been shown for ratings purposes, on Friday it is out, nothing before then, because of the fans reaction, they felt it'd be unfair otherwise. LIAR!
