    The Movies And Windows 7

Hello to all, hope someone'll be able to help me; I've been playing The Movies for a while now, used to play under XP and Vista, without so much as a hiccup, now I'm running the Windows 7 RTM (legit) and when I try installing it, I get the message "The movies splash page stopped working". I tried copying the files on my HDD, and even tried copying as an .iso to load with daemon and got nothing other than that error. Has anyone seen that error, or know of a patch to correct as I really want to play, thanks.

Looks like you might be the first dude.  I'd like to know the answer as well because I may get Windows 7 one of these days.

There won't be any patches out for it, and I imagine it will be a while until users figure out how to make it compatible.
Have you tried running the game in compatibility modes? (I don't have Windows 7, so I'm not sure if it doesn't just do that automatically).

The only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on one.

Have you got an update on this?  I'm still interested on the answer.

Re: The Movies And Windows 7

I have got this working on Windows 7. Navigate to Computer, right-click your DVD drive and choose "Open" Right-click set-up (type is application) Click "Compatibility" tab and check box "Run this program..." and then select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2). Click apply. Then right-click "The Movies(TM)" and again choose "properties" followed by the "Compatibility" tab and check the box "Run this program..." with the drop-down option being "Previous Version of Windows."

    The game will now install and run just fine. Hope this helps. BLOCKED SCRIPTInsertText('Smily [:)]');

Windows Vista was bad enough - but Windows 7?

Your best bet is to wait for a Windows XP emulator to come along.

It probably exists already. G o o d [Good] luck!

The Movies will work fine for me in the Windows 7 RTM but, unfortunately, I can't get LipSync working. Is this an issue that is caused by Windows 7 itself? I tried compatability modes and everything but I can't seem to make it work. I think that the problem may be also caused by a wrong installation or something but I'm not sure. I haven't experienced this problem on Vista. I'm starting to regret that I bought Win7 Sad [:(]. Please somebody help me.

The lip syncing issue actually has been an issue with all operating systems.  Just a little bug in the game.  Nothing should be wrong with your operating system.

It works fine for me and I'm on Windows 7. And as guitarscout stated, this issue is on all operating systems.

Will re-installing the game fix the bug?

Re: The Movies And Windows 7

First off I want to say thanks for the info!! I just got a new pc, and had been trying to get The Movies to work for a few days now. Here's a new dilemma however. The original game works fine with the instructions you gave. How do I get the Stunts and Special Effects add-on to work? I did the same procedure, making the add-on run in Vista sp 2, but it goes to register at the first run, and stays on a blank web page. Starmaker will no longer work either. I'm lost again...any leads?

Re: The Movies And Windows 7

I've still got the RC version of Windows 7, and I'm running 64 bit.  The Movies and Stunts work for me.  I'm still digging into the game, so I'm not as experienced with it as others.  So far, the game works just as well as it did in XP.  I believe I installed it using "compatibility mode" for XP.

I tried doing this, and I did everything up to when I'm supposed to right click setup and click on "compatibility" tab. When I right clicked on "setup" I did not see a compatibility tab anywhere. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
