This isn't a competition, but more of an advice thread about how to make a
competition.
1.) Ask yourself the questions: Do I have to make a competition right now? and Do I have time to run a competition and rate every movie that comes in? If no, then stop right there. Nobody likes a cancelled competition.
2.) Come up with a strong theme. Don't let it be to restrictive. Make it a theme that can be interpreted many different ways.
3.) Choose some nice prizes. VC is pointless. Give them more than just VC. Try an advertisement for the winner's studio in you signature. Maybe a graphic that you make that the winner can post in their threads. Be creative.
4.) Post a clean organized thread with a catchy title.
5.) Don't bump a dead competition thread. If a week goes by and only one person is interested, odds are it is a sign. Maybe send out PMs to someone you think would be interested. If they aren't then let the competition die.
6.) Don't make a movie announcing the winners, unless it is going to be a
movie. Don't just announce the winners and then role credits. Make it fun. Put effort, but try not to go over 7 min, unless you have A LOT of awards to hand out.
7.) A clean and organized thread is always the best way to go when announcing the winners.
8.) REVIEW EVERY ENTRY, and make sure to leave a review that compliments at least one aspect of the film. Sometimes this can be hard, but it makes the person who entered feel like they didn't just waste time.
9.) Follow through on any promises.
I know, these can be hard to follow. I am guilty of not following some of those sometimes, but if you keep those in mind, your competition will be a smash. (Disclaimer: You competition may not be a smash hit)
RULE #1 IS MOST IMPORTANT. IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE THE COMPETITION, DON'T.
