    Hmm [^o)] ~New Members Please Read- Updated~

First off, let me just say welcome to the community. Smile [:)] I hope you enjoy your stay, remember, you're here to have fun!

Now, the reason for this thread:
Firstly, this is actually the second version of this thread, as recently these forums underwent some major changes, including the implementation of completely new forum software and the removal of the reputation (or rep) system. We're all getting our bearings still, and the forums aren't completely finished, so expect some updates to this thread in the future.
Now, the original reason the thread was created was I felt there needed to be somewhere where new members could go to acquaint themselves with the rules of these forums. I grew tired of seeing new members being told off for breaking rules which they weren't aware of, even to the extent where some of them would leave. So, I decided to change that, basically. Stick out tongue [:P]

Now, first off, I would suggest Introducing Yourself, just keep in mind that the thread is in the Off Topic forum, which is not related to TMO at all (and the inhabitants would prefer to keep it that way Wink [;)])

Next, some links which you may find useful:
Your Profile         - here you can change your public information, avatar, signature, etc.
My Posts             - here you can find all of the threads you've posted on, and quickly and easily check to see if any of them have been posted on by other members.
Private Messages - here you can find private messages other members have sent you.

An avatar is a G o o d [Good] way to distinguish yourself from the pack, it can be any image you like, within reason. Please don't use copyright images, offensive images or pornographic images in your avatar. You will also find the signature tab in your profile page. Signature banners can be put into your signature using [IMG] tags ([IMG*]*yourimagelinkhere*[/IMG*] without the *'s). Please try to keep your signatures at a reasonable size- in regards to both filesize and how much space it takes up on a page. While there isn't currently a limit, many members find large signature banners annoying, so please show some common courtesy when creating your signature.

    Alright, now for the rules...
Firstly, rules which apply to all of the boards in the Lionhead Forums:
    • The forums are not a chatroom, please don't treat them as one. Spam (i.e. posts which serve no purpose and have little or no relevance to the topic at hand) is not appreciated.
    • Use the search function and look around before creating a new thread- many questions in regards to the Lionhead games have been asked and answered many times, so you may just find what you need without needing to make a new thread.
    • Please, do not try to artificially raise your post count.
    • Please don't create multiple threads on the same topic- there is no need, and it just spams the boards. This includes topics advertising films.
    • Please don't double post, use the edit button, or just be patient and wait for someone else to come along. If it's been a day or so, it will most likely be fine, otherwise it is unnecessary and will lead to members becoming annoyed at you. If you accidentally double post, please use the delete button. Wink [;)]
    • No flaming (attacking/verbally abusing) other members- if you have a problem with someone, add them to your ignore list or take it to PMs. If it continues, contact a moderator or administrator.
    • No inappropriate content, we have members off all ages here, so no swearing, pornography, rasicm, violent images, etc.
    • No discussion about obtaining or using pirated (illegally copied) materials, or endorsing/encouraging the use of such materials.
    • No advertising
    • No impersonating other members or Lionhead staff- doing so could result in a ban.
    • Necroposting- If a thread has current relevance - eg. you revive a long dead thread that answers a question that a lot of people are asking at the present time - or if you have vital information that enhances the long-dead thread or sheds new light on it, as long as you explain why you've brought the thread back from the great beyond you should be OK. Where people get upset is if you bring a thread back from the dead without any explanation or recognition that that's what you've done, and other people join in as if it's a new thread. Posting things such as 'wow, this is old!' is both unnecessary and annoying, and will draw the ire of other members. (Thanks to Nunberry for that, his description was much better than mine!)
    • Creating multiple accounts (also called 'alts' or 'multis'), especially if you use these counts to do things such as giving your movies 5*, giving other people's movies 1*, or harrassing members, is a big no-no. And remember, the moderators can tell if your account is a multi, so you will most likely be found out.
    • Pointless posts. If someone has created a thread asking a question, and the answer has already been provided, please don't post useless things. Only post if you have something new to add. Posting comments like "What he said" is spam, and can be interpreted as if you're just trying to raise your post count. If you happen to post at the same time as someone else, that's fine, it's unavoidable. Otherwise, just leave the thread if you have nothing new or useful to add. If you come across a troll/spam thread, please just report it using the 'Report Abuse' button found at the bottom of each post, and move on. Posting in such threads keeps them alive, and in the case of troll threads, encourages the troll to continue doing what they're doing.
    • Locked threads- if you have a problem or question about a thread being locked, or if you want it to be reopened, send a PM to a moderator or an administrator (probably a good idea to send it to the person who locked it). Do NOT create a thread about a thread being locked; it is against the rules.
    • Please, show some common courtesy. (OK, so maybe not a rule, but meh). Be polite towards other members, try to be helpful, forgive their mistakes and try to help them improve. Constantly going on the attack is a sure way to lose members, and we don't want that

Now, the rules which apply specifically to the The Movies Online section of the forums:
    • All movie advertisements, casting calls for VOs, etc. belong in the Your Movies section of the forums. Please read the Your Movies forum rules before posting. If you accidentally post a movie thread elsewhere, or you find someone else who has, let a moderator know either via private message or the 'report abuse' button.
    • You can show off any mods (user-created content for the game, such as sets or props) you've made in the Mod Showcase forum. Tech-talk (talk about how to mod, how to use mods and how to install mods) is allowed, however you may not request any mods. Also note that any mods you want to display on these forums must abide by the ToU (eg. no nudity, blood or gore, etc.). Make sure you read through the Mod Showcase rules (recently updated) before posting.
    • Please keep discussions based on the game or TMO. There is an Off Topic board for a reason, you know?
    • Please do not discuss review for review- it is against the rules.
    • If you want to know what you can and can't do with VC, check out the VC Transfer Rules.
    • If you have a problem with a review you have recieved on one of your movies, or if you have a problem with a movie you have seen, please don't create a thread about it- hit the 'abusive' button for reviews, hit the 'flag movie' button for movies, and if you still aren't satisfied, send an email to complaints@themoviesgame.com
    • Voting movies one star with no comment or abusive comments is against the rules, doing this to make a movie fall on the charts is looked down on and will earn you the name 'one star ninja' among other members here.
    • Asking people to review your movie on your review of their movies is also looked down upon, and will most likely guarantee that you wont recieve a review from that person.
    • If you would like someone to make a poster for you, or if you would like to offer your poster making services, please post in the Poster Requests thread, don't create a new one.
    • If you would like to request an avatar or signature banner, or if you would like to offer your avatar/signature banner making services, please post in the Art & Graphics forum.
    • Please don't discuss game cheats on these forums. This includes trainers, cheat codes and things like the unlocking.ini file. (PMs are fine, however. Rolleyes []
    • If you want people to do VOs for your movie, try posting in the VO Requests thread. Also try to be polite when approaching people, and make you movie sound interesting- I think you will have more success than if you just posted 'I need x number of VAs for my movie'.
    • Make sure all your movies follow Lionhead's Terms of Use, which you agreed to when you created your account. Copyrighted material will lead to your movie being removed, as will any material that is deemed to be offensive, which may include pornographic images, nudity, etc. This also applies to posters either posted on the forums or uploaded to your studio.
    • Note that when it comes to copyright, movies that are uploaded to this site fall under the 'commercial use' category, which means you are restricted in what you can use. A lot of music sites, for example, would require you to pay to use their music in your movies. So be careful and be sure to read the fine print!

Also note that the TMO boards are not the only boards on this forum. If you are having trouble with the game, try posting in the User Technical Help forum. If you are having trouble/problems with the forums or TMO, post in the Site Feedback forum. If you want to discuss anything that isn't about the game, TMO, or any of the other LH games, post in the Off Topic

Your Movies - Post all your movie advertisements in here. Never post advertisements for your movies in other sections of these forums, you will most likely not recieve the nicest of responses.
Mod Showcase - Here you can see all the latest mods that our wonderful modding community have created, or show off your own creations! Please note, discussion of how to mod the game is allowed, but requesting mods is not.
    The Movies
    - This is the main part of the forum, where you found this thread. General discussion about the game goes here, just make sure it is related to the game.
The Movies: Stunts & Effects - Discussion about anything related to the Stunts & Effects expansion pack belongs here, from discussion of the new content to getting tips on keeping your stuntmen out of hospital!
    Online Community -
The Movies community is, in my opinion, one of the best gaming communities on the internet. This forum is for general discussion about all things community related, be it competitions, helping people out or production studios recruiting new members. I hope that clears up some confusion for you!

Be sure to read these threads before creating a new topic:

If you have any questions about the rules, or anything else to do with the forums, there are plenty of helpful members here who would be more than happy to help you out. So why not send a PM?

There are many members who can be helpful, and they're willing to help! So don't be shy to PM someone if you think they might be able to help you with something! And sending a pm to multiple members/moderators to get a wider variety of feedback is a great choice sometimes too.

Well, that's all I can think of for now... I'm sure there's plenty I've missed, though, hehe... Tiger can fix that! Cheeky [:cheeky:]  Have fun on the boards, be active, try to help out when you can and... Oh, I already said 'have fun', didn't I?

    ~Leora

    *Happy dances*

Due to the recent ongoing forum changes, this thread is still considered a work in progress. Feel free to PM me if you have suggestions for things to be included in future updates.

(I was sort of dared to add this, blame Del!) For a good time, PM deliriousstudios
