Hi Guys,

So I played The Movies when it first came out, and then lost the disk.  My brother recently bought it for me again for my birthday but I can't install it on my new computer.  I now have Windows Vista, and I keep getting the following message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: E/Setup\rsrc\TheMovies.exe

R6034

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.

Please contact the application's support team for more information.


I know most people say they can use the game on Vista, I've tried running as administrator, and I have it set up on compatibility mode.  If anyone could PLEASE help me, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advanced.

I was able to get the game to install, by copying the files to my hard drive, and installing the setup from there.  But the game still won't play, I get the same message when I try to run it.

I got it to work! (I'm a little excited)

OK, since I was able to find this question in sooooo many places, yet no one seemed to have an answer, I will post it so that as many people can find it (meaning answer other peoples questions, don't yell at me, I just figure people might like a response to their posts.  I know how much it sucks to wait).  Now I don't know if this will work for everyone else, but it sure did work for me.  So feel free to shoot me a response telling me if it worked or not.

INSTALLATION:

Now here's where I was stuck.  Playing the darn game!  I still was getting that message, and then I couldn't run it as Administrator because I got another stupid message about the CD/DVD not being installed.  So here's what I did:

1. Take the game off of compatibility mode!  I know, the opposite information people have been giving us.  right click, go to properties, click the compatibility tab, and uncheck the box that says to run it under XP compatibility.  Click OK

2. Right click and run as Administer.

That's what did it for me.  Not a lot for about two days work.  Hope this helps someone else, keep me updated on how this works for you.
