I tryed to run Black and White On windows 7 , but there was problem with the frame rate on windows xp there was no such problem and the sound stoped , I tryed to use Compatibility mode to run it like Windows XP SP3 with Disabled visual thenes , dusabled desktop composition , disabled display scaling on high DPI settings and I run it like administrator , but the problem stays.

You're gonna have a hard time finding help for this one, I think... luck. XD

I just installed and quickly played through till the villagers brought me to the Tiger head. I didn't see any problems, but I'll keep playing. I have Windows 7 Ultimate.

what graphics card do you have?  if it's nvidia i'd love to hear your installation procedure because i can't get it to work.  i've tried everything but either the game crashes (lh has stopped working) or i get nasty screen flickering and about 1-5 frames per second.

Does anyone know of a place where I can buy and download black and white online? Mine got scratched up beyond repair. I don't mind paying for it but all the disks I have found are running about $60. That's the same as a brand new 360 game. I thought maybe I could download it legally for less. Any ideas? Sorry if this doesn't match the thread that well but I didn't want to start another just for this.

It works on my pc after messing only patch i found that worked was 1.20 then i was getting some dodgey fps, only way to solve that was for me to put the graphics on medium (i have a 9800gtx+) but something was bugging the game.

BUT!!!

I changed my cow to a zebra on the second island then took over a vilalge the game crashed when i got back on the game, I found myself in a place i was hours before hand, all my villages we're back to their original owners, and i still had the zebra.... i have no idea how that happened but it annoyed me so much i couldnt be bothered playing again o.O

Also game saves apart from auto ones don't work on win7ultimate

Well It didnt work for me until I downloaded a no cd crack from gcw, Its not illegalcuz I own the game.

Then I have compitability mode at windows 98 / windows Me and have checked:
disable Visual themes
and the thing under that and I run it aas administrator.

Save works and the whole game runs great.

BTW Im on Windows 7 Professional.

Yeah, this question doesn't really belong in this thread because it has nothing to do with the original topic.  Since we're already here though, I'll tell you that you're pretty much out of luck.  You could try to clean the disc one last time, perhaps even taking it somewhere to be professionally repaired, then creating an image of the disc to use later on should the disc get scratched up again.

It's not available anywhere for download that I'm aware of, but who knows... Maybe Valve will pick it up and offer it up on Steam on the cheap someday.

Negative, it does work.  After fighting to get this game to work on Windows 7 for the past two days, I finally have it working flawlessly just as it did on XP years ago.  I'm going to post a full write up on the steps I took to get it working, but right now I have to go to bed...  Hang in there.

do you have the latest nvidia drivers installed?  that's really the only thing i can think of that would cause you problems.

Hmm...

I think you are going to need patch 1.3 it hold alot of info for stuff like this and it may fix it (But it can go a bit off the tracks Windows XP, Vista and 7. Dont all download P5DLL.dll look at this forum to see how to fix that: http://community.lionhead.com/forums/thread/3415930.aspx)

If that dose not work the look for Black and White on your desktop or programs and files. Then Right click and and at the bottom it will say "properties" click on that then go into "Compatiblity" then there will be a check box next to the sentace "Run thos program in compatibility mode for" chosse "Windows XP" or "Windows 98".

If it dose not work the make shure you have notepad!
