    Problem Exporting a Movie

I'm having the exact same problem as detailed in the thread here.

Just wondering if anyone had came across a solution to this since the time it was posted. Unfortunately deleting the scene is not an option as it is needed, and I also can't reshoot the film as I saved the game after releasing the movie. Anybody have any ideas, or is there an external program which will allow the exporting of films from The Movies? Any help will be much appreciated, I'm going crazy trying to get this to work.

Just to be clear since you are new to the forums, you do know that The Movies Online was taken down almost a year ago, don't you?

There are outside editing programs that allow you to export. (I have a cheapy called Magix Movie Edit Pro 14)

TMO has now moved onto an alternative site for uploading movies on The Movies Underground, along with a FORUM, which most of every TMOer has flocked to.  You can maybe ask on there (since there may be higher chance of someone who can answer your question).

Hope this helps a little?  Sorry I can't answer your original question.

There is one thing you could try (provided you have access to an outside editing program).

Load the game up and enter Movie Player.  Open up the saved file, go to the section where the repeat begins.  Now, delete all the scenes forward of that point; DON'T save it with the same name!  Call it something else.  Save the file.

Export the newly named file.  Then, load up the original file again and delete everything BEFORE the looping starts.  Again, save it as a new file.  Export that.  Exit the game and check both.  Use your outside editing program to stitch the two pieces back together and render it out.

It may not work, but it's worth a try.  And, if anything, at least you have the first part of the movie out; it saves reshooting the whole thing.

This may sound like a hassle, but it is a worthy shot on getting your movie created.

    Re: Problem Exporting a Movie

Thanks guys I'll give that a shot. Just to check though, if I'm exporting in two parts and joining them together, would I be better taking the music out of the film and applying it in the outside editing program?

Oh, and yeah I know TMO isn't up any longer, just exporting to take to a friends house is all. Thanks for your help.

    Re: Problem Exporting a Movie

Just to verify, does Magix Movie Edit Pro allow you to import the .trl files? Or is it simply like other editors and it would need to be the exported wmv files that you load into it? Wanting to try and save myself a bit of time if possible, I realised I'd used the offending scene several times in my movie, so the cut and paste job may take a while, especially since I'll have to keep rearranging the subtitle track.

    Re: Problem Exporting a Movie

To avoid exporting issues (like the dreaded sound bug), I'd only ever use voice tracks in the in-game engine (and obviously only if you're using vocal talent; you can't lip synch using an outside editor), and do all other sound work in your editor once you have the track out.

Unfortunately, .trl files are a proprietory format and aren't supported by any outside programs; just export the wmv file and stick that into your editor.

    Re: Problem Exporting a Movie

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up. Looks like I've got some work to do then. Really frustrating that this happened, as I never had problems with using this particular scene on my old computer, guess The Movies just doesn't like my new one for some reason. Thanks for all your help.
