    Party System?

What would anyone say about a party system for Fable 3?  You know you can actually find people to follow you, equip them and skill them up.  How would you all feel if this was added?Dead [:notalive:]

Also if you have played DASurprise [:O] I am curious about your opinion.  Please go to this thread for discussion on the off-topic board.

I would like it if this was in the game. But id prefer that they just have G o o d [Good] co-op.

Interesting idea. I think either a G o o d [Good] co-op system, or awesome NPC henchmen for hire wouldn't be asking for too much.

    Re: Party System?

I don't know about making a complex party-system. It's not like we will need it .. Tired [:tired:]

    A G o o d [Good] co-op would be just fine.

    Re: Party System?

Maybe not so much an intricate system but more detailed like with Fable 2 when you quest with Hammer and later with the other heroes, it just allows more customization with your followers.Dead [:notalive:]

It works for DA but I wouldn't like in Fable III!

    Re: Party System?

This is a feature I've been after since Fable first came out, though obviously a lot less in depth than in Dragon Age. The way I see it would be that you can hire mercs like in Fable and set up camp at the campfires in any region you've cleared completely. While in camp you could talk to your mercs (two travelling with you at any time) and pay them a set price for training.

The training would be one of two things. Firstly each merc would have access to a spell or ability that characters can't usually buy from the level up section, and they'd teach it to you for a premium price which would open it up to further level ups. The second bit of training they would offer would be you paying money for a little bit of experience in their basic type (mages give will, rogues give skill, etc). Villagers could also be brought along and give little bits of experience training though they'd cost less than mercs and give less experience. Finally each merc type would have a specific quest that they'd be able to take you on if you were travelling with them and talked to them in camp. Completing that quest would make them more powerful whenever they travel with you as well as change their character model to give them new weapons and armour, but you'd have to pass a certain point in the game with them travelling with you before the quest would open up (to increase replayability and the feeling of comradery).

Sweetest moment in the game? My dog came back from the dead to help me open the Rookridge Demon Door. I fed him a snack and he followed me to see what the treasure was. When I left, he disappeared, having helped his master out one final time.

This would be perfect too for Fable 3, as when you become King or Queen you can have your Body Guards there with you or you can bring your spouse along too.  I'd like to be able to marry a spouse that knows some magic or has some cunning skills as well, why not?  Who says your spouse has to be the stay at home type, especially if you despise children.Dead [:notalive:]

    Re: Party System?

I wouldn't mind being able to have a couple of merc's or heroes following me but I wouldn't want to be in charge of leveling them up, customising them and so on. Maybe if your choices inspired them to change.

What you said sounds very similar to Mass Effect or Dragon Age and I just couldn't see that type of system working for Fable. The reason I say this isn't because it is a bad idea but it is because Dragon Age and Mass Effect are a lot more demanding, leaving it up to you to outfit and upgrade your entire party, otherwise you will fail. Where as Fable has always been a lot more casual and never forces too much on you.

Maybe something like never winter nights 2. You can level each character or have them auto level. Even give them new weapons and stuff.

    Re: Party System?

Still I am trying to say not so much on leveling but maybe we can just give them better weapons/armor depending on our status as Rebel, King or Queen.  Maybe their skills will be based on their combat experience, how much training we gave them and we could at least set a few tactics for them, Defensive, Offensive, Healing, and maybe Support based on how we are playing.  I don't want to see another be all learn all build in Fable 3.  I hate having to use Magic, Guns, and Swords.  I want to be able to be more specific.  If I forgo magic and guns, I want to be able to be a Master Swordsman (5 star).  If I pick all three I can max them out at 3 stars.  If I pick two specializations I can max them out at 4 starts.  ETC.Dead [:notalive:]

    Re: Party System?

the multiplayer co-op on fable 2 was, to be honest, rubbish BECAUSE the same screen was shared. give players their own interface and some freedom and it can be a hit. Saints Row 2 has excellent co-op with GTA IVs free mode close to the mark. Co-op is about larkin around with your mates and kicking some creatures rump in the process. fable 2 had the making of gd co-op, but there was a lack of freedom. PLZ PLZ PLZ, don't make it so that players upload thier own characters to the game but more the co-op players form a raggedy rebel gang or the kings bodygaurd depending on the progress of the story and whos stats are determined in pimoreland's post. Re: Party System?

I think this is a G o o d [Good] idea. Especially since fable 3 is getting followers. Perhaps the first quest is about clearing an area and claiming it as yours, and then you obtain followers. As you get followers you can have 2 follow you at one time, certain followers have certain abilities (i.e. Red can heal, Blue can swordsman, Yellow is a marksman, Green is overall.) The more you fight with certain people the more they level up.
Maybe i go on two quests with my red guy, he now has more healing power. After each quest a follower will level up, get better armour, weapons, stats, etc. Once you are king you can have an "army" tax where your followers all have a certain armour and weapon type you can afford. So they go from poor folk, to ragged fighters, to rebels, to your own gaurd.

Off-topic but pimoreland said something about specialization, yeah i want that. I like using range. so maybe i can certain attributes higher but only one.
for example i can either pick a spell dexterous styles, brutal styles, or shock to be level 6, 5, or 4.

Hmm... They could do it with rival heroes... woulda been neat to see whisper fighting alongside you in the arena with the skills you got her.

I don't know. I would just like a G o o d [Good] co-op where you and 6 others can go into a dungeon, fight a horde of enemies, find a mini-boss, and get epic treasure.

    Re: Party System?

Why do you have to decide what another person wields and fights in? Why not just let them buy their own? Say you have a merc under your payroll, and you reach a town. They would use their own pocket money(not exclusive to what you paid them) for the best preferred weapon and armor they could find there, leaving you out of having to make decisions after decisions of what to give them to wear. I would not enjoy being hired and then told what to equip myself with, I would make it my own choice.

Different mercs have different  skills, I like that. Unless they're Heroes, they'll never have the potential that you do. However, I do see something in the magic training. Say that one merc is a shady witch, dealing in harmless street magic. she's only useful for the spell she has, which is only level one(sidesuggestion, any citizen of Albion can learn magic, but of those who aren't Heroes are considered adept at level 3, with up to three spells). You hire her, starting a little sidequest, and fast travel is not available(hopefully unavailable altogether. Can't teleport in front of them, if teleportation is available). You travel with her to a certain region that is part of the road to your main quest, or she suggest going somewhere off-road. An cutscene commences, and you could be taught the spell for half price.

I think it should be possible to train mercs. If they're not as G o o d [Good] as G o o d [Good] as you, and they have untapped potential, you could train them in it, and that could save you from having to pay them for the next few times they require your payroll in action. If you're finished with them, they'll give back whatever money that you gave them up to however much the training/spell costed. Next time you hire them, or someone from the same spot, they have all the training that you gave them.

Another thing to add to that: Merc factions. It could add to the revolution, if you choose a rebellion. Of course, you'd have to pay the faction, but if you teach one merc-for-hire, they teach the rest, and the faction gets tougher. If you teach one person in your initial faction of voluntary rebels, they teach the rest and that group gets stronger. Upon getting better, they will require more monetary funds.

On the subject of teaching a merc--and ultimately an entire faction--spells; each slightly Will-pontent merc has their own preferred spell, which they will learn and teach the others. If they prefer to learn everything they can, you can only teach them their preferred spells up to a certain level.

    Re: Party System?

I agree with you all 95%.
Wil should not be given to anyone outside of the heroes. But I do recall something PM said about there being all of the characters/heroes from Fable II, so Garth could follow you around alongside Hammer, jibber jabber to one another in the background. Plus they'd help you fight all the big bad baddies.
Training your 'henchmen' should be more like training your army, where it would cost some money and would raise the amount of gold required to mantain that army.
Of course that 'army' would be represented by ten or so henchmen/guards. These in turn would carry out your every whim, depending on their pay.

    Hope this made some sense.
Don't take me seriously, unless I'm serious.

Maybe there are heroes that would like to be on your team? So they are you "mercs" or "henchmen", but they are really heroes?

    Re: Party System?

As long as the players have thier own screens, its fine with me. And can i point out that it would be G o o d [Good] to look like your own charater but have standard skills cause 'mercs' do dress differently to each other. the other players have to be basic and could have limited will. for example, if the main character is G o o d [Good] then the will power could be blue bolts of lightning and heal or if the main character is E v i l [Evil] they could have fireballs and could cause short term pralaysis in a beam of energy, come on i am thinking on the spot for something E v i l [Evil]ler than a fireball, but you get the picture. The online was the only downside to fable 2, and TBF anything can be better. the merc can have the standard choice of a ranged weapon and melee weapon and could buy items. this can be through the 'earning' a small percentage from the overall gold given at the completion of a quest. THIS COINAGE DOES NOT CARRY ON TO YOUR MAIN GAME.

I will be happy if they just let us use our hero in co-op so we can show off what our individual hero looks like, and his weapons lol!
